Patrick Ewing

Patrick Ewing was the No. 1 overall pick in 1985 and became the face of the New York Knicks for 15 seasons, leading the team to the 1994 NBA Finals. An 11-time All-Star and member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, he’s a cornerstone name for any collector building a Knicks legends collection.

What to collect

Ewing’s rookie cards are the headline pieces of his market, led by the iconic 1986-87 Fleer #32 — one of the most recognizable basketball cards of its era. Because 1980s and 1990s print runs varied and centering is often tough, condition and grade matter enormously — a high-grade example is worth far more than a raw, off-center one. Vintage inserts and any authenticated autographs round out a serious Ewing collection.

Buying tips

• Buy graded (PSA, SGC, BGS) for the 1986-87 Fleer rookie — condition sensitivity and counterfeits make authentication essential.
• Centering, corners, and surface separate common copies from valuable ones.
• The eBay rails below show live Ewing listings — rookies, graded slabs, autos, and lots.
